Water Quality

Text Box: Wild & Scenic River Conservation Since 1967

Water quality has dramatically improved on the Little Miami through a partnering with OEPA and public officials and agencies to reduce nutrient pollution and protect riparian forest lands along over 50% of the Little Miamiís riverfront.† NRCS and County SWCDís have worked with area farmers to place conservation measures on 60% of the farmlands in the Little Miami watershed. In 2007 OEPA researchers found that, for the first time, the main stem was successfully meeting EWH (Exceptional Warmwater Habitat) water quality and biological ecosystem standards, fully restoring the health of the river.† Today close to 100% of the mainstem meet OEPA standards !
