LMI volunteers plant trees along the river and partner with public agencies to restore forest and prairie habitat on LMI preserve lands.

Little Miami, Inc. (LMI) was founded in 1967 as a 501c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration and protection of the Little Miami Wild & Scenic River.

Today, with close to 500 families and supporters as LMI members, the organization owns 100 nature preserves along the Little Miami and several† tributaries, preserving over 12% of the Little Miamiís riverfront forests.

LMI maintains a full-time Executive Director and two part-time staff members to support the organizationís ongoing efforts.

An organizational financial audit is conducted annually.


LMI volunteers dedicate a plaque to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Lower Little Miami inclusion into the National Wild & Scenic River System in LMI was instrumental in achieving this historic milestone† in 1980 (see photo below) and promoting the inclusion of the river as Ohioís first State Scenic river in 1969.
